Maximising recovery of the hand and arm

There is increasing evidence that specific interventions for the upper limb can improve motor performance, even months or years following a neurological event. We also know that repetitive practice of tasks and intensity of therapy and activities improve recovery and reduce disability.

A programme or course of treatment will be tailored to the individual.

The programme may include hands-on therapy and facilitation of movement, strengthening weak muscles and practising everyday functional activities.

We aim towards a 24-hour approach, considering posture and use of the arm throughout the day. We provide education for the individual, carer and family and set up individual stretching and exercise programmes.
