We are Chartered Physiotherapists with expertise and special interest in Neurology and Rehabilitation. We are registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council.

Dorset Neuro Physio was set up by Holly in 2011 and Karen joined the team in 2015.  We pride ourselves on being thorough, patient-centred and informative. We enjoy hands-on therapy and seeing a person improve within a treatment session.

We think holistically and works alongside other services to maximise a person’s recovery and help them manage their condition. We keep up to date in the latest research and physiotherapy practice developments.We particularly enjoy treating people in their own homes, working on their personal goals and helping them regain function, confidence and independence.

Holly Sizer

Holly studied Physiotherapy at Southampton University, qualifying in 2002.

She has specialised in neurological physiotherapy for over eighteen years, completing further training in the Bobath Concept, Movement Science, facial rehabilitation, vestibular dysfunction and electrical stimulation.

She started her career at Poole Hospital, working in acute and community settings. Moving to Queens Square in London at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, she developed valuable skills in neurological rehabilitation and had the opportunity to see complex presentations and work with people post brain surgery.  She worked alongside the consultant neurologist and clinical nurse specialist in Spasticity and MS Clinics.

Returning to Dorset in 2010, Holly worked as the Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist for Neuromuscular Conditions in Dorset, helping to develop the service and running clinics for rare muscle and nerve conditions.

Special interests – stroke rehabilitation, Parkinson’s, Facial rehabilitation, vestibular & balance rehabilitation, neuromuscular conditions, working with high level patients to help return to sports, hobbies.

Personal interests include coastal walks, kayaking, gardening and spending time with family and friends.

Karen Herndon

Karen studied Physiotherapy at Brunel University and qualified in 2005.

She worked at West Middlesex University Hospital Trust as a rotational physiotherapist for 4 years. In 2009 Karen obtained a post working on the Neurological Rehabilitation Unit in The Wellington Hospital, London.  Here she gained extensive experience in treating a wide range of neurological conditions using specialist equipment and handling. In 2013 Karen relocated to Dorset and started working in community settings both with the Dorset NHS University Trust and privately with the East Cliff Therapy Centre.

Over the years she has developed specialist skills in getting the most out of clients in their home environment and built up good working relationships with the local NHS teams. Karen has completed Bobath Courses, is Saebo and FES trained. Karen enjoys treating patients with vestibular disorders.

Special interests – stroke rehabilitation, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, Functional Neurological Disorder, traumatic brain injury, vestibular and balance rehabilitation.

Outside of work, Karen enjoys running and home exercise, gardening and she is a keen environmental campaigner.
